Story of a Walachian sheep (Valaska) that had changed Liptov region and built a footstone of very important traditions in Slovakia. She came to our country centuries ago during the Walachian colonization. Thanks to her the inhabitants of the northern territories were taught to take advantages of her, enriched their eating habits and found a new way to their livelihood. While in the past she found very good living conditions in Slovakia and she was doing well, a few years ago there were only a few Walachian sheeps left in whole Czechoslovakia and she became an endangered species. Fortunately, some enthusiasts decided to give her a helping hand and increased the number of Walachian sheep to several hundreds. Yet, it´s not the right time to celebrate, because the sheep farming is still facing many problems, but without her our country would loose a very important part of our culture and history.
