JERTE WILDLIFE IN THE CHERRY VALLEY

Jerte, a narrow valley in southwestern Spain, experiences a natural event every spring, its rugged orography and its small extension making it unique: the flowering of the almost two million cherry trees that cover its slopes with a dazzling white mantle. Spring in the Jerte is undoubtedly a magical time thanks to the cherry trees. And it is also because of the rich variety of animal and plant species that share this peculiar space that is really a mosaic of ecosystems as varied as they are fecund, supported by the transparent blood of the furious torrents that carve the granite looking for the bottom of the valley. From the desolate summits of the massifs where the mountain goat reigns or herds of wild horses graze to the deciduous forests or the riverside forests, touring the Jerte is a constant surprise. Spring in the valley of the cherry trees promises an explosion of wildlife to meet, a creation of the hands of water to discover, a unique landscape to admire.
